Rick Lojko ramps up effort, signs on with PMRA Tour for 2010 season

HAMPTON, ONTARIO (April 29, 2010) – After a short season of racing in Top Sportsman, Rick Lojko decided to step up his efforts with a Pro Modified, and will compete in the Pro Modified Racing Association in 2010.

He said after his brief stint in the Top Sportsman car in 2005, there were a lot of factors in his decision to build a Pro Modified.

“I had the car out briefly in 2009,” he said, “and I thought we were ready. But there were a whole lot of issues, and it was decided we would start at ground zero with the car.”

The Tim McAmis Race Cars 1963 Chevrolet Corvette will be powered by a 526-cubic inch Alan Johnson engine, prepared by Pro Modified engine guru Mike Stawicki of MSR. A Bruno Automotive Products Lenco sits behind engine, and a DMPE – M5 supercharger sits atop the powerplant.

Team takes on competition with non-traditional twin-turbo setup

PETROLIA, ONTARIO (April 23, 2010) – Gary Mater is one racer who likes a challenge.

Gary MaterThe driver and owner of the 1937 Chevy Coupe Pro Modified said he should be in good shape when the Rumblin’ Thunder Racing Team competes in Pro Modified Racing Association action this year.

“I’ve never been afraid to take on a challenge,” said Mater, who drives the Alan Johnson 526-cubic inch engine-powered coupe with the twin turbos on top of the engine.

Mater’s Pro Modified is one of a handful of non-supercharged cars in the PMRA, and the team has been working diligently to get the engine’s potential to the rear wheels.

“We’re still on a learning curve,” he added. “The car shows lots of promise.”

Mater started racing with an Anglia in the 1970s and built the car from a 13-second car to one capable of running in the mid-seven-second range at over 180 mph.

SCARBOROUGH, ONTARIO (April 17, 2010) – If there is one driver ready to get back to racing in the Pro Modified Racing Association, it is Eric Latino, driver of the 1938 Chevy Pro Modified.

“I can’t wait to get the car out,” said Latino, who placed fourth in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series in 2009. “We plan to race in all the PMRA events this year. We have had a great time with the series.”

Latino mentioned the car is ready, and that there will be more power for 2010.

“We found a lot more power in the engine than we had last year,” he mentioned. “It should be up over 200 horsepower more.”

Racer information, statistics, search engine and fan participation all part of new-look sites

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (April 18, 2010) – In an effort to present the best in drag racing, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca are launching improved and updated websites.

The sites will offer a smoother flow of information, competitor information, race statistics, and will be much more interactive.

The updated sites have been designed and developed by webmaster Mike Goodwin of MG Digital Media, www.mgdigital.ca, a talented freelance graphic designer and sports action photographer. Goodwin is well known for his graphic excellence and presentation.
