hand” during race weekends
PMRA Since: 2009
Hometown: Cayuga, Ontario
Family: 2 Bulldogs – Rita 4 years old, Ted 1 year old
Hobbies: Refereeing, Hockey and Cooking
Career: Nurse
Eric started working at Toronto Motorsports Park in 2000. His first job was cleaning the bathrooms, but it only lasted two weekends because he accidentally shattered a toilet into a thousand pieces. They quickly moved him to wherever he was needed around the park which allowed Eric to gain a large amount of knowledge about the sport from various aspects. Eric worked from the gate to the ET shack and everything in between until he found his calling in the climate controlled tower. Eric is a self-taught guru of the Complulink timing system. It allowed him to work various events that TMP hosted including the IHRA Canadian Nationals. He must have taught me very well, because he was later being offered a job by the IHRA to join them on their National circuit. Some years later the PMRA Director of Operations, Bruce Mehlenbacher came calling and wanted to bring Eric on board to help with the series. He can currently be found greeting and registering the racers and crews as they come to participate with the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and PBSS. On top of that, Eric also oversees the operation of the timing system during qualifying and elimination sessions.
In the Drag Racing off season Eric plays in a Men’s Hockey League against fellow PMRA Director of Competition and brother Davey Robertson (there has been more than one black eye at Christmas as a result). He coaches the Midget Rep team in Cayuga, Ontario, and is a great referee, currently working the Junior hockey ranks in southern Ontario with the Ontario Hockey Association (Tier II Junior A – Junior D). Eric is a Registered Nurse, having recently graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During his remaining spare time, he can be found laughing it up with family and friends.
Eric is a skilful quality person, knows the sport inside and out and is not afraid to help in any way that he can, should you have any questions, do not be afraid to ask Eric!
