Pete Farber joins PMRA for 2009 with Dodge Daytona Charger Pro Modified
New Englander preparing for his Canadian debut
OTTER RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS (March 4, 2009) – Although he’s never raced in Canada, Pete Farber will be prepared to make his debut in Canada this year as a competitor in the Pro Modified Racing Association.
“I’ve been all over the US, but never raced in Canada,” said Farber, driver of the T.J. & Sons Towing Pro Modified.
“This new car is going to happen,” he continued. “I’m going up there and going to race.”
Farber is awaiting delivery of his new car, a 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger-bodied Pro Modified from the shop of G-Force Race Cars in Tonawanda, New York.
The Mopar will be powered by a MSR Performance built 521-cubic inch Billet Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi, coupled to a three-speed Lenco. It will also utilize a DMPE supercharger and fuel system.
While he may be new in Canada, Farber has strong racing credentials.
A former NOPI Drag event winner in Atco, New Jersey and multi-time NMCA Qualifier and Top Five Points finisher in 2007, Farber has also been avid in bracket racing and has driven on the Outlaw Pro Modified scene over the past five years.
Based in north-central Massachusetts, Farber crewed for the Western New York team of Mike Stawicki along with Jim and Jon Salemi at the final PMRA meet at Cayuga Dragway plus some selected IHRA races in 2008. Farber knew he had to get involved in a bigger way.
“I crewed with Stawicki and met all the guys,” he said. “They are a great bunch of people. I’ll be looking forward to racing with the PMRA. This is a good deal.”
The Farber car will be crewed by Billy Morgan, Chris "Trick" Reese, and Art Irwin. Sponsorship is provided by T.J. & Sons Towing Inc. and Pellec Enterprises.
The PMRA will compete at several drag strips in 2009, including dates at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, starting with the season opener on May 16 and 17 and the season-closer on September 19 and 20, at St. Thomas Dragway on July 11 and 12, and the South-western Ontario track of the Grand Bend Motorplex on September 5 and 6.
Each of the PMRA events will be run in conjunction with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca, offering fans a great show of drag racing.
