Bruce Boland paces field for PMRA Challenge

Round three of series part of IHRA MOPAR Canadian Nationals
GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (July 18, 2009) – Less than a blink of an eye separates the top two qualifiers for the latest round of Pro Modified Racing Association action, the PMRA Challenge presented by Motorsport 1320 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
Running in conjunction with the 10th Annual IHRA MOPAR Canadian Nationals, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, took top spot with a 4.030-second run, while second is Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, New York, with a 4.031-second clocking.
Driving the B&B Racing 1967 Chevy Nova, Boland, the reigning PMRA Champion, took the top spot in the 10-car field on his final attempt, bumping Grainy into second with the Grainy Brothers 1967 Camaro entry. Boland’s speed was 183.39-mph on the Grand Bend Motorplex eighth-mile, with Grainy running 179.97-mph and one one-thousandth of a second behind.
Driving the Roth Racing 1941 Willys, Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario placed third with a 4.161-second pass, followed by Mark Nielsen of Brantford, Ontario at 4.171-seconds, and Jason Kalso of Clarkston, Michigan fifth with a 4.174-second time.
Championship eliminations for the third event in the 2009 PMRA tour will begin Sunday, July 19. Rounding out the eight-car field will be Dave Earhart of Strathroy, Ontario, Tim Martin of Barrie, Ontario, and Eric Latino of Scarborough, Ontario.
The 10th Annual IHRA MOPAR Canadian Nationals will be round seven of the 11-race IHRA 2009 series, and will feature a full contingent of Professional and Sportsman teams.
