Top Five for 2011 Bruce Boland and the B&B Team Willys
Number Two
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (November 11, 2011) – The most victorious driver in PMRA history came within one point of winning his fourth championship in the Pro Modified Racing Association Marydel Homes Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts, Patio Passport and Global Emissions Systems Inc.
Bruce Boland, driver of the B&B Racing 1941 Willys Pro Modified, lost the title to Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario. Boland tallied 1533 points to Montesano’s 1534 in a see-saw championship battle all season that was not determined until the last race of the final event.
“We started good and ended good,” noted Boland, who won the PMRA title through 2007-09. “We had some shifter issues midway through the season, or we would have made it.”
One of the original PMRA members since its inception in 2004, Boland has always started his season with a new race car, and 2011 was no exception, as he traded his 1963 Corvette in for a 1941 Willys, a car he said has been top-notch.

Montesano presently leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport with 817 points. He has qualified number one at all events so far this year with his supercharged ERD-powered 1969 Camaro Pro Modified, and has set a fast time of 5.889-seconds down the quarter mile.
“What’s my plan for this weekend? It’s to stay at the top,” he said. “I’d like to set a big number and keep it.”
Bruce Boland debuts new Willys at PMRA opener, sets fastest time
Former and three-time champion has a winner with new car, will be ready for Cayuga June 10-12
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (June 1, 2011) – Since he started competing in the Pro Modified Racing Association seven seasons ago, Bruce Boland has raced a different car each year.
And for 2011, he has continued with this trend, debuting a 1941 Willys Pro Modified.
With almost zero seat time in the new car, the three-time PMRA champ not only established a personal-best run, but qualified number one for the PMRA opener held recently at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
His qualifying pass of 5.953-seconds, 235.47 mph put him at the top of the ladder when the eliminations are held June 10-12 for the postponed race.
“That’s the fastest I’ve ever gone,” he said. “I knew it was a good one. I knew the car was really going.”
Countdown to the 2010 PMRA Championship
Bruce Boland ties for third spot in PMRA Pro Modified series with a good performance
HAMILTON, ONTARIO (October 17, 2010) – “This year has been one of those learning deals,” noted Bruce Boland. “It has not been as easy to set the world on fire this year.”
The three-time Pro Modified Racing Association Champion returned to the PMRA tour in 2010 with a new yellow 1963 Corvette, and the B&B Racing Team entry had some tough slugging earlier in the season.
But by halfway through the season, the team had the problems in hand, and Boland began to play catch-up, finishing up tied for third for the year with 1228 points in the Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport.
“We were able to get things together,” noted Boland, who won the PMRA title in 2007, 2008, and 2009. “There were a lot of positives later in the year.”
