Eric Latino and Team Green to debut new car and engine for PMRA opener at Cayuga’s TMP

PORT PERRY, ONTARIO (May 19, 2011) – He’s got a new car, a new engine, and a new team partner, and Pro Modified Racing Association racer Eric Latino and Team Green is ready for the new season.
“The new car is 100 percent finished,” noted Latino, who placed third in the 2010 PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport. “We’re all ready to race.”
With close to 30 years of racing activity, Latino has partnered for 2011 with Pro Modified car owner and team leader Rob and Ann Sporring, and has replaced his 1938 Chevy coupe with a 1969 Chevy Camaro Pro Modified.
The new car will compete with a G-Force Race Cars chassis under the Cynergy Composites body shell. Powering the Camaro is a Brad Anderson (BAE) hemi engine with a Modified Kobelco supercharger by Al Billes. A three-speed Lenco transmission sits behind the engine.

PORT PERRY, ONTARIO (October 24, 2010) – Eric Latino, who tied for third in the Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport with 1228 points, said recently he was pleased with his season, and cited consistency is an important part of success.
“We had a great year,” noted the driver of the 1938 Chevy coupe Pro Modified. “We went over the car last winter and took it completely apart. We only made some minor changes before the start of the 2010 season.
Latino started off the season with a victory during the opening round of the tour at the Dragway Park of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario. He qualified for all but one event, and was a quarter and semi-finalist in the other races for the year.
He said that consistent running is the way to win.

This weekend’s racing will be held at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.

six-year PMRA racing history
Large number of winners provides interesting and varied Pro Modified competition
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 19, 2010) – When Eric Latino won the Pro Modified Racing Association’s season opener at the Cayuga Dragway May 23, he became the 17th driver to win a PMRA event in the series’ six years of racing.
The win for the Port Perry, Ontario racer was his first in PMRA competition.
At present, three-time champion Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario has the most number of wins with five. His first win came at Lancaster in 2005 and a co-win at New York International Raceway Park near Rochester with Mike Stawicki in 2008. Boland then won three events in 2009 at Cayuga and Grand Bend.
Stawicki, of Medina, New York is next with four wins. Along with his 2008 co-win with Boland, Stawicki has won at Cayuga in 2005, and then at both Lancaster and Cayuga in 2008.

Driver of ’38 Chevy Coupe looking forward to good year in Pro Modified racing
SCARBOROUGH, ONTARIO (April 17, 2010) – If there is one driver ready to get back to racing in the Pro Modified Racing Association, it is Eric Latino, driver of the 1938 Chevy Pro Modified.
“I can’t wait to get the car out,” said Latino, who placed fourth in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series in 2009. “We plan to race in all the PMRA events this year. We have had a great time with the series.”
Latino mentioned the car is ready, and that there will be more power for 2010.
“We found a lot more power in the engine than we had last year,” he mentioned. “It should be up over 200 horsepower more.”
