Background

In order to continue to build more efficient and effective approaches to the regulation of pesticides the PMRA is enhancing the electronic capability for its pesticide submission, registration and information processes under the Government of Canadas On-Line Program. The PMRAs electronic initiatives are the realization of the Agencys commitment to increase the efficiency of the regulatory processes by leveraging technology to transform traditional business interfaces with stakeholders.

The PMRAs current focus, under the electronic regulatory initiative, is the electronic PMRA Regulatory System (e-PRS), a web-based system that links the entire submission process from registrants to evaluators and to the public. The system is being built around a sophisticated submissions management capacity within the PMRA to support the responsive, transparent regulatory system envisioned in the new Pest Control Products Act.

The result will be a more effective service delivery channel for Registrants to transact with the PMRA while enabling the PMRA to process and report on pesticide information in a more transparent and timely manner to the public.
