Martorino, Williams, Goddard, and Cryderman pace series opener at Grand Bend

PMRAPMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS start drag racing season with RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil Spring Blowout

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (May 16, 2026) – The 2014 season is underway for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series after two qualifying rounds for the opener of all three series, the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil Spring Blowout being held this weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Pacing the PMRA Pro Modifieds after Friday’s qualifying runs is Al Martorino. The first-year PMRA racer, from Cobourg, Ontario, presently leads the field with his 2006 Mustang, followed by the 1963 Corvette of Quebec’s Denis Lachance and the 1941 Willys of Jeff Roth of New Hamburg, Ontario.

Leading the Top Dragster side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, is another newcomer, Lyle Williams of Strathroy, Ontario. Burlington, Ontario’s Glen Vardy is next in qualifying in Top Dragster, with Tony Positano of Toronto in third.

Q32-2For the companion Top Sportsman side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Wes Goddard of Guelph, Ontario leads the doorcars with his 1958 Nash-bodied car. Former series champ Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario is next with his 2005 Dodge Stratus, and the 2002 Cavalier of Bill Wilson of the Wilson & Gray team, 2013 Series Champions from Ingersoll, Ontario, is third.

Q32-1Another 2013 champion leading in qualifying after Friday’s rounds is Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario. The Pro Bike rider leads the PBSS, followed by Pro Bike riders Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario, and Curtis Beck, also of Milton. The PBSS is presented by Wiseco Performance Products.

Qualifying continues Saturday May 17 for two more sessions, complemented by runs of the Chicago Rush Jet Dragster and elimination rounds in the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series.

PBSSRound one of eliminations for the PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS gets underway Sunday, May 18 at 11:15 am with final round eliminations to take place later at five pm.
